The Stock-Back® Card is Stash’s debit card. It is not a credit card. When you use it for qualifying purchases, you may earn Stock-Back® rewards that are invested through your Stash investment account.
Stash’s view is simple: rewards are a nudge, not a shortcut. Stock-Back® and Stock Round-Ups can help turn everyday spending into small investments, but they work best alongside a long-term, diversified investing plan.
How do I earn Stock-Back® rewards?
To earn Stock-Back® rewards, you generally need:
A funded Stash Banking account
An active Stock-Back® Card
A qualifying card purchase
An eligible Stash investment account to receive the reward
When you shop at a publicly traded company available on Stash, your reward may be invested in that company’s stock. If the merchant is not available on Stash, your reward may be invested in your selected default investment.
Not every transaction qualifies. Returns, cash withdrawals, certain money transfers, and some other transaction types may not earn rewards.

How do I get a Stock-Back® Card?
Your Stock-Back® Card is sent after you fund your Stash Banking account with at least $1, if you are eligible for the card. Once it arrives, activate it before using it.
Replacement cards usually arrive in 7-10 business days.
How do I activate my Stock-Back® Card?
After you receive your Stock-Back® Card, you can activate it in the app.
Open this link to view your Banking screen.
Tap Activate.
Enter your card information.
Tap Activate Card.
Is the Stock-Back® Card a debit card or a credit card?
The Stock-Back® Card is a debit card. Purchases are paid from your Stash Banking account balance, not borrowed money.
That means a transaction may be declined if there is not enough available balance to cover the purchase, including any temporary hold from the merchant.
How do I lock and unlock my Stock-Back® Card?
If your card is misplaced, lock it right away. Locking your card helps prevent new card purchases while you look for it. If you find it, you can unlock it again.
In the app
Open this link to view your Banking screen.
Tap your card image to flip it over.
Tap the slider next to Lock Card.
To unlock your card, tap the slider again.
On the web
Open this link to view your Banking screen.
Click Manage account.
Click the toggle next to Card unlocked.
Click Lock Card.
To unlock your card, click the slider again.
If your card was stolen or used without your permission, do not just lock it. Report it and request a replacement card.
How do I change the PIN for my Stock-Back® Card?
In the app
Open this link to view your Banking screen.
Tap the settings gear icon in the upper-right corner.
Select Reset Card PIN.
Enter a new 4-digit PIN.
Re-enter your new PIN to confirm it.
On the web

How can I request a replacement card?
You can order a replacement Stock-Back® Card from your Stash account at any time. Your new card should arrive in 7-10 business days.
Before ordering, confirm that your shipping address is correct. The shipping address cannot be changed after the replacement card order is placed.
In the app
Open this link to view your Banking screen.
Tap the image of your card.
Tap Replace Card.
If you have not received your card, tap I never received my card.
Follow the prompts to replace your card.
On the web

Click Manage account.
Scroll down and click Replace Card.

Follow the prompts to replace your card.
Can I still use my old card while I’m waiting for my new one?
It depends on why the card was replaced.
If you reported your Stock-Back® Card lost or stolen, the old card will no longer work. You will need to wait for the replacement card to arrive and activate it.
If the card was damaged, or if you did not receive a replacement card, your current card number may continue to work until the replacement card is activated.
If you have automatic payments set up with your old card number, update those payments after you activate your new card.
What are Stock Round-Ups?
Stock Round-Ups let you invest spare change from qualifying purchases made with your Stock-Back® Card.
Here is a plain-English example:
You buy lunch for $10.20.
Stash rounds the purchase up to $11.00.
The $0.80 difference is invested through your Stash account.
That $0.80 may be invested in a matching stock or in a custom investment you choose, depending on your settings and eligibility.
Round-Ups are small by design. They are not a replacement for a real investing plan. But they can help you invest consistently in bite-size amounts as part of your broader portfolio.
You can turn this tool on from the Stock-Back® screen, and you can pause or resume it at any time.
How do I turn Stock Round-Ups on or off?
In the app
Open this link to view your Banking screen.
Tap Your Stock-Back® Card benefits.
Tap Stock Round-Ups.
Tap Turn on Round Ups to turn round-ups on, or Turn off Round Ups to turn round-ups off.
On the web

How do I add my Stock-Back® Card to a digital wallet?
You can add your card to supported digital wallets, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay, by following the steps in your device’s wallet app.
You may need to verify your identity or confirm the card before the wallet can be used.
What should I do if my phone or device with my digital wallet was lost or stolen?
First, use your device provider’s tools to lock, locate, or erase the device remotely:
Visit the Apple support site for Apple Pay
Visit the Google support site for Google Pay
Visit the Samsung support site for Samsung Pay
Then lock your Stock-Back® Card in Stash. If you believe someone may be able to use your card or digital wallet, report the card lost or stolen and request a replacement.
How does my card work with local ATMs?
You can use your Stock-Back® Card at ATMs. To locate an in-network ATM:
Open this link to view your Banking screen.
Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner.
Tap Move Money.
In the Move money out section, tap the ATM locator option.
As of June 10, 2026:
In-network ATM withdrawal: no Stash ATM fee
Out-of-network ATM withdrawal: $2.50, plus any fee charged by the ATM owner
Out-of-network balance inquiry: $0.50
The ATM owner may charge its own fee before you confirm the transaction. Review the ATM screen before completing the withdrawal.
Why is there a hold on my purchase for more than my payment amount?
Some merchants place a temporary authorization hold before the final amount is known. This is common at gas stations, hotels, rental car companies, and some restaurants.
Example: You buy $50 of gas at the pump. The gas station places a temporary $100 hold on your card. When the transaction settles for $50, the extra $50 hold is released back to your available balance.
A hold is not the same as a final charge. Your available balance may be lower until the merchant releases the hold and the transaction settles.
If the hold has been released and the final posted charge is still wrong, you can file a dispute.
Why was my Stock-Back® Card declined?
A Stock-Back® Card transaction can be declined for several reasons, including:
Your available balance is too low
Your card is locked
The card has not been activated
The PIN was entered incorrectly
The merchant placed a temporary hold that exceeds your available balance
The card was reported lost or stolen and replaced
Stash or the card network flagged the activity for security review
The merchant does not accept this type of debit card transaction
Start by checking your card status, available balance, and recent transactions in the app. If everything looks right and the card is still declined, contact Stash support.
How do I dispute a transaction?
If you see a completed transaction that looks wrong, you can dispute it from the app or web.
Important notes:
A dispute can only be filed after the transaction is completed. Pending transactions cannot be disputed yet.
A transaction cannot have more than one active dispute.
If the transaction was unauthorized, your debit card may be deactivated and a new one may be sent to you.
Report unauthorized activity as soon as you notice it.
Have this information ready:
Why you believe there is an error
The dollar amount involved
The date the error took place
Any receipts, emails, cancellation notices, or merchant messages that support your dispute

Open this link to view your Banking screen.
Scroll down to your transactions.
Tap See all if you need to view more transactions.
Tap the transaction you want to dispute.

Quick FAQ
Do pending transactions earn Stock-Back® rewards?
Rewards are tied to qualifying completed purchases. If a transaction is pending, returned, reversed, or otherwise not eligible, it may not receive Stock-Back® rewards.
Do ATM withdrawals earn Stock-Back® rewards?
No. ATM withdrawals are not purchases and do not earn Stock-Back® rewards.
Can I use the Stock-Back® Card before the physical card arrives?
If a digital version of your card is available in your account, you may be able to use it with a supported digital wallet before the physical card arrives. Check the Banking screen in the Stash app for your available card options.
Will locking my card stop automatic payments?
Locking your card is designed to stop new card purchases. Some previously authorized or recurring transactions may still process. If your card information was compromised, report the card lost or stolen and replace it.
Are Stock-Back® rewards the same as cash back?
No. Stock-Back® rewards are invested as stock or another eligible investment through Stash. Investments can rise or fall in value. Cash in a Stash Banking account may be eligible for FDIC insurance through Stash’s bank partner, but investments are not FDIC insured and may lose value.
