Lesson 12: Reflection

Learning Objective:

Students will be able to reflect on their Stash101 experience by discussing quotes around money and taking a post-assessment.

Pre-work:

  • Provide link to post-assessment for students
  • Read through the lesson plan and instructional slides

Quotes Discussion (25 min)

Slide: Discussion
Read the slide verbatim.

Slide: Money and success….
Ask: Can someone read the quote?

  • What does this quote mean to you?
  • How do you feel about the quote?
  • How does this fit in with your concepts about the importance of money?

Repeat for all of the quotes. Allow multiple students to share their thoughts.

Reflection on Money Facts and Habits to Build (10-15 min)

Slide: Takeaway: Facts
Say: Take a moment to look through the facts from these lessons with Stash101. Turn and talk with a partner about which key facts stuck with you the most, and why.

If you’re teaching remotely, you can create breakout rooms or simply have students type a brief response in the video chat.

Consider these things:

  • Which facts feel new to you?
  • How do you think the facts play a part in your life now—and how will they in the future?
  • How might your cognitive biases show up in how you respond to these facts?

Have students turn and talk. Then, call on 3-5 students to share out.

Slide: Takeaway: Habits to Build
Say: Now look through the habits to build from our sessions with Stash101. Turn and talk with a partner about which key habits stuck with you the most, and why.

Consider these things:

  • Which habits feel new to you?
  • How do you think these habits will play a role in your future?
  • How might your cognitive biases show up in how you respond to these habits?

Have students turn and talk. Then, call on 3-5 students to share out.

Post-Assessment & Reflection (15 min)

Slide: Post-assessment
Say: Now go to this link and complete the post-assessment of this Stash101 course. This post-assessment will be read by the Stash101 team so they can see how effective their course was at helping you become better informed about money. Once you complete the post-assessment, please answer the reflection questions that follow, which are:

  • What were your biggest takeaways
  • How was the simulation
  • What questions do you still have
  • What feedback do you have?
